What lessons can be learnt from Kim's marital breakdown

Kim Kardashian is an American celebrity with 225 million Instagram followers and a net worth of 1 billion. Her rise to notoriety is admirable and demonstrates her tenacity, resilience and determination to succeed. Many will question whether her celebrity status compromised her previous relationships and recent marital breakdown to Kanye West.

Kim’s early business ventures were conceptualised when she started organising celebrities’ closets such as Lindsay Lohan & Brandy. She also used this platform to sell unwanted clothing for celebrities on eBay. Her natural entrepreneurial drive saw her forming further relationships with celebrities such as Paris Hilton & Nicole Ritchie. Kim was able to forge a positive rapport with celebrities and her popularity grew. This led to the series ‘Keeping up with the Kardashians’ being launched which featured Kim and her family.

Kim encountered many obstacles that, at one point, made her a laughingstock. She was desperate to change the public’s perception of her.

While there were a few celebrities that Kim Kardashian worked with, the most memorable moments most recall was when she worked for Paris Hilton. Her role back then was not just as an organiser but a personal assistant too. Whilst her relationship with Paris Hilton grew into a close friendship, it was also at that point that she gained further exposure before making it big herself. However, not long after, her friendship with Paris came to an abrupt ending.

In 2006, after a few auditions, Kim successfully landed her first-ever role on TV with a cameo on: ‘Beyond The Break,’ a drama centred around four women trying to make it in the world of surfing. In the same year, Kim was also given a chance to be featured in several episodes of Paris Hilton and Nichole Ritchie's ‘The Simple Life.’ In these episodes, Kim is filmed either hanging around with both celebrities or tidying their clothes.

In 2006, Kim and her siblings, Khloe and Kourtney, opened their first luxury clothing store D-A-S-H in Calabasas, California. The store sold luxurious clothes lingerie from a plethora of labels, and even accessories for bags or jewellery.

From 2007, Kim Kardashian blew up on the internet. Most memorably, was her relationship with Ray J which had a bittersweet ending when a sex tape was leaked to the press. Some suggest that the leak of the sex tape propelled Kim’s celebrity status. During this period, the reality series ‘Keeping Up With The Kardashians’ aired on E! for the very first time. In the initial episodes, fans were introduced to Kris Jenner and Bruce. During the following episodes, more unfolds; from the relationship drama of Kourtney; to the mischievous habits of Kendall and Kylie. In the same year, Kim posed nude for Playboy.

From her perspective, she wanted to use her platform to celebrate the diverse range of women’s figures; as well as breaking barriers in the modelling industry.

Kim and Kanye's turbulent marriage has been a hot topic for months. In late 2019, Kanye grew increasingly estranged from Kim and purchased a Wyoming ranch and resided there. The night before the 2019 Met Gala, both Kim and Kanye had a disagreement supposedly over Kim’s skin-tight, beige latex ensemble. The dress gained so much attention; however, Kanye felt her outfit was too revealing.

During the coronavirus pandemic, Kim and Kanye separated and did not spend Thanksgiving or Christmas together. On the 19th of February 2021, Kim made the separation from Kanye permanent by filing for divorce.
