The skin care brand that is pure as lily and has firm foundations like a rock

Lily & Rock is a natural skincare line that developed out of necessity. Founder Evele Edwina Mundabi recalls having severe skin allergies and eczema growing up and the tedious skin routines she followed were often pointless.

During her first year at university in 2016, Evele’s skin had cleared; however, she found herself becoming more curious about natural skincare products and wondered if they had healing properties for sensitive eczema prone skin. Through research and product trials, Nohea butter was developed. Evele initially distributed the product to friends and family and the reception received was encouraging, however the idea was left and was never fully developed.

After some time, Evele rejuvenated her passion in January 2020, and she commenced handcrafting fragranced body oils; this would be the start of her business venture.

The name Lily & Rock is based on the founder’s Christian faith, The Lily of the valley and The Solid Rock, a representation of strength and purity.

The name was put together due to the founder’s strong belief in Jesus. The two things that kept Evele moving was the exciting prospect of the brand; developing with a clear direction and she produced organic, vegan and cruelty free products.

Lily & Rock handcrafted 6 Fragrance body oils and a body butter. The six oils scents ranged from floral, sweet, woody to leafy. The oils are a mixture of essential to fragrance oils. Expansion is on the horizon and Evele is keen to ensure that ingredients continue to be ethically sourced and reduce the carbon footprint by using packaging that is kind to the environment.

Lily & Rock was born in the midst of a pandemic; however, the resilience and resolve to build a business in such a challenging context highlights the importance of drive, determination and focus.

All businesses go through a dry spell where the sales may not be as expected. A way that Lily & Rock have overcome these spells is by creating new and attractive content that will bring in new customers. However, a key component to running a small business is patience. Lily & Rock has been growing steadily and it can be difficult. “Comparison is a big killer” states Evele. “There are many skincare brands on the market and it is easy to compare the rise of other companies.” It is important to understand your journey as it is unique to you.
